Reporter and anchor Jamie McGriff and Reporter Ashli Sims represented KOTV The News on 6 in the Martin Luther King Parade on January 17, 2011. Trav's Wild Weather Camp January 20-March 24, 2011 took weather safety to 17 communities, 21 elementary schools and over 11,000 children, teachers and parents within our viewing area. The 45 minute program created by Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer is designed to teach school-age children how to be safe during the three main severe weather events in Oklahoma-flooding, lightning and tornadoes. Press releases were sent to all community newspapers in advance of the visits. KOTV The News on 6 produced 15 second promos after each community visit, provided a webpage with slides from each elementary school and aired video during the 6p, 9p and 10p newscasts during the weather segment.
