Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | Non-broadcast Efforts to Enhance Childrens Education: WFMY-TV partnered with Guilford Education Alliance to present ON STAGE! a county-wide showcase of student performances that highlighted the outstanding talent represented in Guilford County Schools. Over 490 elementary to high school aged students sang, danced and played a variety of musical instruments. WFMY-TV encouraged the public to attend by airing public service announcements and promotion within newscasts. This event was held to raise additional funds for the arts education programs within the Guilford County Schools. WFMY News 2 anchors: Frank Mickens and Julie Luck emceed the event. WFMY-TV partnered with the Greensboro YMCA for its sixth year of providing free swim lessons to more than 200 children at no cost to their families. The classes were held in May for first time swimmers. Read 2 Succeed: WFMY -TV staff and Good Morning Show anchors presented its Read 2 Succeed program to 3,255 students at 7 elementary schools in Guilford County. The students participated in a program about the importance of reading and the News 2 anchors had the students involved in doing mock news casts. |
