Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | During this quarter, WJAC aired public service announcements that addressed the topic of buzzed driving, dental and oral health, autism awareness, heart health, resources to help teens, the future for high school drop-outs, child safety seats, and dealing with learning problems. WJAC-TV on-air personalities made many appearances this quarter at sites throughout the viewing area. Sports Anchor Ashley Chase provided information to high school students on careers in Sports Journalism at the Tomahawk Careers in Sports Fair on February 12th. On January 8th, Promotions Manager Victor Kovalchik worked with an Eagle Scout candidate on his project to promote awareness of the resources available at Peniel Rehabilitation Center through the creation of public service spots. News Anchor Marty Radovanic hosted Cub Scout Pack 2016 for a visit to the station on January 10th. Meteorologis Jim Burton hosted groups touring the station on the following dates: Commonwealth Connection Academy on January 21st, and Cub Scout Pack 182 on January 30th. Jim also visited Shade Elementary School 4th grade on March 20th to tell them about TV weather forecasting. Jim hosted the Chillin for Charity plunge to raise money for 15 nonprofit area organizations on February 14th. Meteorologist Tony Martin hosted cub scout troop 2025 for a tour of the station on February 9th and Girl Scout Troop 46594 on March 5th. Tony also manned the green-screen weather experience station at Seven Springs WJAC Snow Daze on February 7th. Tony visited St. Benedict's Elementary School on February 26th to talk to first graders about TV weather forecasting. On February 4th, News Director James Platzer hosted 8 students from Greater Johnstown High School to watch a live broadcast of the news and see how the news department operates. He also hosted a job shadow student from Rockwood High School on February 11th. Reporter Erin Calandra served as a guest judge for the Lego Building Competition at the Central PA Home and Garden Show on March 14th. News Anchor Lindsay Ward served as a judge for the Dancing Like A Star for Autism competition on February 13th. |
