See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. During the fourth quarter, KATU supported the educational and informational needs of children through station sponsorships, on-air news local programming features, and fundraisers; with additional educational resources on katu.com. Throughout the month of December, KATU sponsored Season of Wishes, a major fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Oregon, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. KATU aired Public Service Announcements, News stories and a special Season of Wishes kick-off video and follow up interview with an 8 year old wish recipient and his family on December 2, 2014 on AM Northwest. KATU's Family Matters public service campaign also sponsored a Toy and Gift Drive in December for Salvation Army Angel Trees. Viewers were encouraged to pick tags off Angel trees and bring back gifts for children of all ages and seniors in the community. We also promoted a virtual Angel tree which gave viewers the option to donate on-line. KATU aired public service announcements, news stories, AM Northwest segments, and featured the campaign on katu.com to support Salvation Army Angel Trees which helped thousands of northwest families. During 4th Quarter, KATU News launched a new weekly segment focused on "Kids Doing Good Stuff". Children who made a difference for others in their community were featured in a live interview each week. The featured kids included a 14 year old girl forming a support group for girls with scoliosis, a high school student body president organizing a school food drive for local food banks, and an all-girls school robotics team between the ages of 9-14. In addition to this, KATU continued children's educational and informational programming in October, November and December with our Parent 2 Parent segments on KATU News. Topics included sleep solutions for kids, tips on how to guide kids when shopping online, keeping kids learning over the holiday break from school, and 3 tools to help parents better connect with their kids. KATU news also featured stories focused on children's topics, including making homes safe for visiting children during the holidays, top non-tech toys for kids, visual clues that indicate dangerous daycares, and safety for kids playing outdoors in colder weather. Some of these stories were supported by promotional announcements.
