KLTV performed the following non-broadcast efforts to benefit children during fourth quarter 2011: KLTV anchor Jennifer Hines emceed "Girl Power Summit" on Oct. 1. This program was presented to 450 6th grade students. KLTV Meteorologist Mark Scirto hosted a student on October 6 to be "Weather Girl" for a day. Mark explained the details of putting together a weathercast. Mark Scirto served as auctioneer for an Oct. 15 event at Azleway to raise money for the children in residence there. Mark served as emcee for the Oct. 25 Annual Meeting of the Boys & Girls Club of Tyler. Mark worked with a young student on Nov. 10, teaching him to be "Weather Man" for a day. The student assisted Mark in putting together the weather forecast. Mark Scirto and KLTV sponsored "Holiday in the Park" on Dec. 10. This event features Mark as Santa Scirto to the kids in attendance. Games and educational activities are part of this event. KLTV participates with a local Hospital in the Neighborhood Weathernet Program. Weather stations are installed at schools throughout our viewing area. Students are taught to observe and record weather data. Data from a different school each newscast is presented on air. KLTV participated with a local charity, PATH in their Coats for Kids campaign. Coats are gathered to distribute to needy children in our area.

Pearlie is an animated urban fairy comedy for kids based on the best selling book by Australian author, Wendy Hammer. Pearlie has been assigned to take care of Jubilee Park and she and her friends make sure everything runs smoothly. The series focuses on the key issues of problem solving and cooperation as kids will see the fun and inventive way Pearlie approaches every park adventure. Pearlie focuses on the importance of following the rules, using good judgment and learning how to avoid getting into trouble. Since Pearlie was appointed by Fairy Head Quarters (HQ) to keep Jubilee Park in sparkling order she has constant challenges with her basic goal of keeping everyone happy and making sure the park functions smoothly. Pearlie's nemesis and cousin Saphira, often takes advantage of Pearlie's good nature which requires that Pearlie must also frequently outwit the park bully. In each episode, we see Pearlie approach new tasks and problems with a great deal of enthusiasm, but without the organization required to get the job done. Through plot developments and with the assistance of her friends, Opal and Jasper, she learns what to do and what not to do in each situation so the park can be restored to order.
