During this quarter, WJAC aired public service announcements that addressed the topic of buzzed driving, dental and oral health, nutrition and exercise, autism awareness, heart health, resources to help teens, the future for high school drop-outs, Internet safety, adoption, bullying, and dealing with learning problems. WJAC-TV on-air personalities made several appearances this quarter at sites throughout the viewing area. On July 4th, Chief Meteorologist Jim Burton participated in a Punxsutawney Bike Ride fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Meteorologist Tony Martin greeted visitors to Idlewild Amusement Park on July 19th, for WJAC Days. On September 9th, reporter Erika Stanish spoke to communications / TV broadcasting classes at Clarion University about her experiences in broadcasting. News Anchor Marty Radovanic emcees a benefit concert at PNG Park in Johnstown for the Johnstown Free Medical Clnic that supports financially-challenged familes in our area. On September 20th, he also emceed a dinner for the St. Vincent DePaul Society which ministers to the needs of local families. News Producer Taylor LaSota hosted a job-shadow student from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on August 26th, and on September 9th, Sales Account Executive Cynthia Truscott and Administrative Assistant Laura Kelly distributed information to students at the Cambria County Fair about careers in television.
