WCHS TV - Our 'No text Zone" public service effort to encourage drivers to put down the phone while driving is up to A law requiring West Virginia deputies to be provided with bulletproof vests unanimously passed the House on March 27th. The bill was sparked by our "In-vest" initiative here at Eyewitness News that helped raise nearly $20,000 to purchase vests for counties in need. Our Fugitive Files segment celebrated a milestone this month, being credited with assisting local law enforcement capturing 500 wanted criminals. We launched a new Consumer Alerts segment which reveals new ways scammers are trying to con unsuspecting victims, so our viewers become victims themselves. WCHS TV news talent hosted the following events: - Emcee Heart Ball for the American Heart Association - Paramount Arts Center - Red Carpet Fashion Show WCHS TV news talent participated in several Read to Me Days: - Ruthlawn Elementary - Scott Teays Elementary WCHS TV visited several schools and a business to discuss our jobs and the news business: - South Charleston Lions Club - WV State Police Media Seminar - JE Robbins Elementary WCHS TV hosted several station tours from January - March for various elementary schools and organizations, including Braxton High School Journalism Class, Cub Scout Pack #22, #188, # 283, #168 |
