John talked to 8 groups of high school sophomores about careers in TV news. John Garlock, Anchor 6p & 10p News\Reporter, participated in a job fair at the Putnam Co R-1 High School in Unionville MO on December 11, 2013. John talked to four groups of 9th-12th grade students about careers in TV news. John Garlock, Anchor 6 & 10p News\Reporter, read a Christmas story to the residents of Kirksville Manor Care Center, a Nursing Home in Kirksville, MO, on December 12, 2013. Later he visited with residents and enjoyed hot chocolate with them. Melissa Billington, Business Office Manager, attended the Truman State University Career Fair. She spoke to students about careers in broadcasting and took resumes and job applications. KTVO-TV began the "Just Drive" Campaign in October 2013. This campaign is to promote safe driving in the heartland by not texting and paying attention to the roads and road safety. Staff from KTVO (Carol Kellum, Scott Kellum, Ela Soroka, Katie Cagle, and Amanda Lindquist along with a speaker from University of Missouri went to heartland schools and spoke about safe driving.
