Produced for ages 13-16, Sea Rescue offers educational and entertaining television by demonstrating the welfare and medical benefits that rescue and rehabilitation programs provide animals. Viewers will also learn that there's a reciprocal benefit: rescued animals provide valuable insight into their biology and place in ecology. This information adds to the pool of knowledge necessary to conserve and preserve threatened and endangered species. Each week, Sea Rescue will leave its audience inspired by the real-life stories of the featured animals and rescuers and with a fuller understanding of the rich array of sea life with which we share our planet. Through a federal initiative and with the area school systems and some local businesses WZVN participates in the STEM program, to promote the advancement of educational training and specialization in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. WZVN anchors and reporters are also available for classroom visits throughout the school year and the station facility is open for guided tours as requested by classrooms and youth organizations. Additionally, numerous WZVN representatives are active throughout the community, some in high profile, decision rendering roles, serving on public service and charity organization committees and boards and/or volunteering through non-profit groups that specifically promote the well-being of our area youth. |
