Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. During the fourth quarter, KATU supported the educational and informational needs of children through station sponsorships, on-air news local programming features, and fundraisers; all with additional educational resources on katu.com. In November, KATU's Family Matters public service campaign focused on Providence Festival of Trees which raised more than $1.1 million dollars for youth cardiac screenings, which equips children and their families with crucial preventative information about their heart health. KATU supported Providence Festival of Trees with public service announcements, news stories, a KATU personality serving as master of ceremonies at the fundraising gala, and a complete AM Northwest show on location on December 6th, 2013. Throughout the month of December, KATU sponsored Season of Wishes, a major fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Oregon, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. KATU aired Public Service Announcements, News stories and a special Season of Wishes kick-off video and follow up interview with a 9 year old wish recipient on December 11, 2013 on AM Northwest. KATU's Family Matters public service campaign also sponsored a Toy and Gift Drive in December for Salvation Army Angel Trees. Viewers were encouraged to pick tags off Angel trees and bring back gifts for children of all ages and seniors in the community. KATU aired public service announcements, news stories and AM Northwest segments to support Salvation Army Angel Trees which helped thousands of northwest families. KATU continued children's educational and informational programming in October, November and December with Dave Salesky's Weather School. The KATU Weather School features Meteorologist, Dave Salesky, who conducts weekly weather lessons in area elementary schools. Portions of Dave Salesky's Weather School are featured during KATU News and in promotional announcements and is supported by resource information on katu.com. Children's issue programming in KATU News included the monthly series, Canzano's Kids. KATU Anchor, Anna Canzano featured children who are currently up for adoption and looking for their "forever" families. During 4th Qtr, KATU news featured stories focused on children's topics, including teaching kids how to manage their money, testing a kid tracking device, top toys for kids, sexting in schools, and a two day event featuring the author of "Diary of A Wimpy Kid" during KATU News This Morning. These stories were supported by promotional announcements.
