KLTV aired Now Eat This! with Rocco DiSpirito on weekends at various times during first quarter 2013. This is an educational/informational program targeted to children ages 13-16. Chef Rocco DiSpirito's new E/I show is dedicated to helping teens and families eat better, and live healthier lives, without sacrificing flavor. Rocco has two passions in life: family and food. He knows that the pressures of modern life make it harder for families to stay whole and eat wisely. Drawing from his own real life experiences, Rocco is determined to bring families back together over a delicious, healthy meal. Each 30-minute episode is focused on an individual, or a family, and their issues related to food and health. Examples include guests and families struggling with weight issues; trying to feed budding athletes; eating right on a budget; fighting serious health issues like diabetes; simply desiring to live a healthier life. KLTV performed the following non-broadcast efforts to benefit children during first quarter 2013: KLTV News Operations Director Ebonye Delaney conducted tours of the station with the following groups: East Texas Christian Academy on March 8th. Twenty first grade students attended;Girl Scout Troop on March 14 - 5 students;Cub Scout Troop on March 26, 6 students; CHEC of Longview with 20 7-12 grade students on March 22. TV station operations and careers in broadcasting are discussed on these tours. KLTV anchor Jennifer Hines participated in Read Across America on March 1 in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Jennifer read to kindergarteners at Clarkston Elementary in Tyler. KLTV morning show anchor Dia Wall read to students at Ware Elementary in Longview on Feb. 26. Dia served as keynote speaker at Maude Laird Middle School for Black History Month on Feb. 28. KLTV anchor Joe Terrell hosted 10 Cub Scouts from Bullard on Feb. 5 for a station tour and newscast viewing.KLTV Meteorologist Grant Dade gave a weather talk to the following schools: Caldwell Elementary on Feb.6; Robert Hunt Elementary on Feb. 12; Cumberland Academy on Feb. 13; E.J. Moss on Feb. 19.KLTV Meteorologist Mark Scirto gave a weather talk to Ramey Elementary School students on Feb. 18-100 first graders in attendance.Mark spent a day with two students on March 15 showing them how he prepares for his weathercast. Mark served as auctioneer at the Blue Jeans and Ball Gowns event to benefit CASA for children on March 23. KLTV participates with a local hospital in the Neighborhood Weathernet Program. Weather stations are installed at schools throughout our viewing area. Students observe, record and analyze weather data. Statistics from differents schools are presented on each of our daily weathercasts.
