This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. WHAG, in conjunction with the NBC affiliation, aired a number of PSA's "The More You Know" PSA's. The October total was 79, the November total was 72 and the December total was 104. The :10 and :30 themes of these PSA's deal with the environment, tolerance, mentoring, and violence prevention. The More You Know's website (www.nbc.com/tmyk) features scripts from the award-winning public service announcements referral information for the organizations referenced in the PSA's, a general campaign over view, and educational materials produced in connection with NBC programming. The site also includes a list of the campaigns's most recent accolades. During the quarter, there were 8 news stories appropriate for children that aired on either the 5PM or 6PM newscast. The content of these stories ranged from...They're meant to make learning easier for students, but after a recent switch to digital textbooks, some students say it's making school work more difficult..Santa has some early helpers. Students at Fountaindale Elementary School have collected gifts for families in need..l.Franklin County middle school students had a chance to learn the art of drawing comics. Kids Cast - every Wednesday during our 5PM newscast weather segment, a third to fifth grade school student gives out weather forecast. Children draw a picture of "Weather" and submit it to out local Kids Cast sponsor. Each week, a picture is chosen, and the child that drew it sits in on our live news set and delivers the local weather. Te child arrives early and in addition to learning about the weather, they get to see how a live newscast works "behind the scenes". During the month of October 61 30-second promos aired for the WHAG Student Athlete of the Month. During the month of November 61 promos aired, and during the month of December 61 promos aired. The community nominates the students. Then each month, a male and female athlete is chosen for their outstanding efforts in the classroom and on the field. A feature story is done on each winner and airs within the local news. Congratulations promos air during the following month. On October 2, Bryan Tolle, Meteorologist, hosted Nathanael Robinson and his parents at the station. Nathanael is a student at Northern Middle School, and is really interested in being a Meteorologist. He is doing a project for his science class. Bryan answered a questionnaire and Nathanael shadowed Bryan during the 7PM news on October 2. On October 4, Cub Scout Pack 22 toured the station. They toured the news room, control room, studio and weather center. On October 22, Girl Scout Troup 40176 toured the station. They toured the news room, control room, studio and weather center. On October 24, HCC Digital Class toured the station. They toured the news room and watched a live newscast. On, November 15, Washington County Development Program toured the station. They toured the news room, studio, control room and weather center. On November 28, Bryan Tolle, Meteorologist, went to Woodsboro Elementary School in Frederick County, Maryland to talk with 50-70 first grade students. He talked about the weather, weather modeling, Hurricane Sandy, tornadoes, etc. On December 12, Cub Scout Pack 252 toured the station. They toured the news room, control room, studio and weather center. On December 20, cub Scout Pack 102 toured the station. They toured the news room, studio, control room and weather center. Hugh Breslin, VP and General Manager is on the Advisory Board of the Mason Dixon Boy Scouts.
