All along his journey, protected by the affection of warmhearted Vitalis, he learns many things about life: true friendship he strikes up with Mattia, a fellow traveler and a young and talented violinist; bravery which enables him to face the harsh realities of the world; sadness when he loses his animal companions and, and most of all, faithfulness towards the old man who always supports him. However, despite adverse circumstances, he never loses his optimism and hope. This is rewarded when he finally meets his real mother, Mrs. Milligan, a beautiful, elegant and wealthy lady, and starts a new life. |
