WBFF continued its commitment to childrens educational and informational needs during the 4th quarter with both broadcast and community outreach programming. The 27th Annual Champions of Courage Black History Month Essay Competition was launched and more than 3000 essays from Maryland middle and high school students were received. The station continued its media partnership with the National Aquarium and B & O Railroad Museum sponsoring Fridays After Five and the Holiday Festival of Trains promotions. Our partnership with the CollegeBound Foundation continued with mornign news anchors hosting the CollegeBound Arts Competition encouraging elementary school students to think about their future college plans. The station sponsored the Sowebo Landmark 5K to benefit Field Day experiences presented by Docs in the Park encouraging physical outdoor activity for children and their families. Additionally, WBFF partnered with Baltimore Area Council Boys Scouts of America to promote registration for scouting programs for young boys. During the holiday season, WBFF served a media sponsor of the USMC Reserves Toys for Tots program ensuring holiday gifts for thousands of Baltimore area children. Station talent and management participated in career day programs in local schools, weather lessons, and conducted station tours for students in local colleges, technical schools, and Scout troops. Station management serves on board of directors for local organizations serving youth including the Mental Health Association of Maryland, Fit Families Foundation and Boy Scouts Council
