On April 8th, Hermantown Scouts received a tour of the facilities from Aaron Wernimont. They also watched the 5pm newscast from the studio. On April 19th, Meteorologist Justin Liles visited the 2nd grade at Lake Superior Elementary school and spoke to them about weather. On May 4th, Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles talked to the 6th grade class at Lincoln Park Middle school. In four short classes (20 minutes long), they talked about their jobs, classes, school work and things they had to do to get where they are. On May 10th, Anchor Renee Passal emceed the annual awards night for the Esko Schools arts department. On May 13th, Marketing Director Jeff Laundergan, Assistant News Director Jon Ellis and Good Morning Northland Meteorologist Dana Zimmer talked for a sales, advertising and small business class at Northwestern Nigh School in Maple, WI. Discussed careers and education, plus general overview of broadcasting and day-to-day operations of a television station. On May 22nd, Anchor Renee Passal delivered two scholarships to seniors at the Virginia High School. On May 27th, Creative Services Director Jeff Laundergan, Graphics Due Holt, Creative Services Aaron Werimont and Asst News Director Jon Ellis gave a tour to Winterquist Elementary 2nd graders. 90 students received a tour of the departments and facilities. They got a broad overview of the studio, production control, master control and newsroom operation. On June 24th, Anchor Renee Passal was a judge for the Mt. Iron Library Reading Program Contest where children created musical instruments out of recycled materials.
