These cast musical performances show children they can write their own music and the importance of teamwork. Music on the show is produced by Emmy Award winner David Barrett. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. WCHS continues to support the community airing numerous Public Service announcements designed to inform viewers of health and safety issues, drug prevention, and the importance of education and the environment.As a result of a major storm system that passed through the region in late June, WCHS TV provided need to know information to the public, including power outage restoration time estimates, cooling shelter locations, boil water advisories, rotting food drop off locations, emergency contact numbers, etc. We also helped pass on valuable information about where the public could get their hands on much needed supplies like generators and AC units as new shipments came in. Also during this emergency, we teamed up with a the Union Mission and provided air time, manpower and designated our station as a drop off location for much needed non-perishable food items and bottled water as a result of the weather disaster. We provided coverage of this year's election, offering information on local and national candidates, issues, etc. WCHS TV participated in a local workshop with state police and 911 centers about how local media and law enforcement can work better together in order to serve the public interest. Following news that the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Healthcare Act, we providing need-to-know information about how the law will affect the public, providing air time for local experts to answer viewer questions. WCHS TV kicked off a public service effort called "No Text Zone" to educate and encourage drivers to stop texting while driving. WCHS TV participated in and supported the following events: Susan G Komen Race for the Cure Voice for Crime Victims public meeting The Jefferson Awards national program which recognizes volunteerism WCHS TV teamed up with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the Dream Home project. We raised over 600k for children stricken with catastrophic diseases. This was our 5th year.
