The team of animals who run it are the best of friends--Comet, Halley, Sputnik, Radar and Jet--all under the watchful eye of Sal the Octopus. But when you stick five friends with very different personalities in one place, things are bound to get messy. Through it all the Astroblast crew accept their differences, help one another, make new friends and discover that getting along is always out of this world. Every day brings a new adventure, big and small, whether it involves getting ready for a surprise birthday party for a Gremulon princess, dealing with demanding dairy-obsessed customers from the Milky Way, making peace between two spaceships of hungry space pirates, or helping a scary-looking but shy visitor make friends when no one will sit with him at lunch. The program is a Sprout original series, co-produced with Scholastic Media, and is inspired by the books of the same name.

Number of Preemptions 0

Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming. The series Zoo Clues keeps 13-16 year-old viewers engaged for 30 minutes with a nearly infinite visual richness, animal characteristics, and wild range of animal behaviors. Beyond basic engagement, Zoo Clues leaves viewers with a meaningful perspective about animals and meaningful comparisons to their own human characteristics. The variety of the animal kingdom is truly odd and bizarre enough to read like fiction, but the clever narration of Zoo Clues links disparate information together in a way that always makes clear that what viewers see is real, natural, and relates to their own life in the real world. Grouping animal behaviors and physical characteristics into groups from a human point of view holds the series thematically together.
