Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. JULY -- 100 DEADLIEST DAYS -- Statistics show that teenagers (as well as adults) drink and drive more between Memorial Day and Labor Day resulting in a higher percentage of fatal crashes. This time frame is known as the "100 Deadliest Days". KOMO TV and KOMO Newesradio's support of the MADD WA campaign entered its second phase (for the 4th of July Holiday) as we ran spots encouraging viewers not to drink and drive then. STORM KIDS DAY - In conjunction with the Seattle Storm WNBA team, KOMO4 co-sponsored the Storm Kids Day July 11th. The event offered kids a chance to talk to KOMO Sports Director Mike Ferreri about being a good sport as well as enjoy Women's NBA competition at its finest. MUSLIM YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM - Community Relations Director Jimm Brown spoke to a group of high school and college students attending the Muslim Youth Leadership Program. Questions and issues pivoted around preparing for journalism as a career, Muslim and Islamic representations in media today, and the road to securing jobs in broadcasting. Sponsored by the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the group offers a summer-time, one week conference (July 16, 2012). AUGUST -- MAKE A WISH - MILES TO SMILES TELETHON "MAKE-A-WISH: WISHES IN FLIGHT The 4th Annual Make-A-Wish mileage drive, renamed "Wishes in Flight", was held 6am-7pm on August 2nd with support from KOMO Newsradio and Smart Talk KVI. The drive generated 5,414,388 air miles and $2,535 cash to send kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families on the dream trips of their young lives. That equates to a savings of close to $60,000 for the non-profit organization. SCHOOL TOOLS - KOMO Television and KOMO Newsradio joined forces with Bartell Drug Stores to collect pencils, pens, paper and other school tools to help low-income kids get off the the right start at the beginning of the school year. SEPTEMBER -- SKYPE SCHOOL VISITS - In response the multitude of requests for "a weathercaster to visit my school", lead meteorologist Steve Pool is visiting schools via Skype to explain how weather works here in the Pacific Northwest. The high-tech chats also include a dose of the importance of doing well in school
