He introduced the auction items and encouraged bidding. JDRF WALK TO CURE DIABETES-10/4/14: Jeff George emceed this three mile walk which started at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. ANTI-BULLYING COLLABORATION MONTHLY MEETING-10/8, 11/12, 12/10/14: Jeff George is a member of the Statewide Anti-Bullying Collaboration that meets monthly to discuss ways to provide counseling and advocacy services to those victims of bullying. Training and other initiatives are in place to help stop the violence and break the silence. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE-10/15/14: KOCB employees served a meal by 6pm to the families at The Ronald McDonald House, which provides free, short term stay for families of sick children who are being treated at area hospitals. This is an ongoing campaign. CAREER FAIR-11/13/14: Vicki Khalili, HR and Tom Comerford, Sales Manager, attended the University of Oklahoma College of Journalism & Mass Communication Career and Internship Fair. They met with students to discuss their interests and provide information about opportunities in the broadcasting industry and at KOCB in particular. They also gave out information about internships. NATIONAL WEATHER FESTIVAL-11/1/14: The entire FOX25 weather team attended and presented at the largest public weather event of the year. They had three tables set up on the inside of the National Weather Center in Norman. Besides doing weather experiments for kids and adults, we had a large TV monitor, laptop, and DVD player to display a variety of weather video. Free safety DVDs and other FOX promotional items were handed out as well. Outside of the NWC, we displayed our chase vehicles for public viewing and education. We also performed an outdoor demonstration and weather balloon launch to wrap up the Festival. OK BIKES FOR KIDS FASHION SHOW-11/9/14, OK BIKES FOR KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY-12/20/14: Jeff George emceed the fashion show that raised money for Bikes for Kids; an organization whose mission is "to provide boys and girls with a bicycle, for those who can't afford one. ...no child will EVER be turned away." Teenagers and kids were the models featuring clothing from local businesses. Bikes were given to the children at the Christmas Party. STATION TOURS-11/13, 11/21/14: John Wilhelm, Sales Promotion Coordinator, gave tours of the station: Yukon High School Leaders of Tomorrow class-11/13, and 4th Grade-Mustang Schools-11/21. This class produces their own TV broadcast at school, and wanted to see how we produced our news. JOB SHADOW-11/17/14: Marcy Novak, meteorologist, shadowed a student from Independence Charter Middle School after the Good Day Oklahoma Morning News program. Marcy showed her how to put together a forecast and how the graphics are done. The student also practiced on the Chroma Key Wall and how to do a weather forecast for the next morning. IMCI BOARD MEETING-11/18/14: Jeff George is an executive member of IMCI (It's My Community Initiative). Their mission is to develop and expand efforts to strengthen communities by building strong, healthy families. IMCI spearheads projects tackling issues such as health, education and employment. FIGHT FOR AIR CLIMB KICK-OFF-12/4/14: This gathering was encouraging people to sign up for the 2015 Fight for Air Climb in February. FAMILY EXPECTATIONS CHRISTMAS PARTY-12/11/14: Jeff George attended this party for Family Expectations; a couple based intervention with the goal of strengthening couple relationships in OK County in order to provide the best environment for raising a child. They target the transition to parenthood because they feel it is a crucial time that provides teachable moments to encourage change. Jeff is a board member of this group.
