The Great Dr. Scott is a live action, half-hour television program designed to meet the educational and informational needs of children aged 13-16. The Great Dr. Scott follows the charismatic and committed veterinarian Dr. Scott Miller at his family-run veterinary clinic in the outskirts of London in the village of Richmond upon Thames. Viewers will get hands-on insight into the world of veterinary medicine as Dr. Scott treats a wide variety of animal patients from cats and dogs to exotic reptiles and livestock. Audiences will witness as Dr. Scott goes above and beyond to care for all creatures great and small providing a glimpse into the day-to-day life of a veterinary professional while educating viewers on a wide range of medical procedures and practices in the process. The regularly scheduled episode on April 27, 2019 was pre-empted by the live ABC network coverage of the NFL Draft. However, the rescheduled episode on Sunday, May 5th was preempted by an overrun of ABC's live network sports at 3:19PM. KFSN's involvement in Children First includes local news-produced half-hour programs, 30 second vignettes and public service announcements (PSAs) that includes such topics as "Social and Emotional Wellness" along with special reports on Action News (all on 30.1). KFSN produced and aired the half hour special: Children First: Special and Successful on Sunday, April 28th and Sunday, May 12th, 2019 at 7:00PM along with other repeat airings. Action News Anchors Dale Yurong and Graciela Moreno hosted the television special focusing on local programs helping students with special needs. KFSN also hosted an ABC30 Youth Advisory Council meeting on May 15, 2019 comprising of young individuals from around the valley coming together to discuss issues of importance to them and their community. ABC30 produced "Honored Scholar's" spots that showcase valedictorians throughout the valley. KFSN aired approximately (1,104) PSAs on (30.1), including "The Fresno Fair and Valley Children's Hospital Fill the Need," "Asian Pacific Heritage Month Celebration," "Disney/Earth Month: Meet Me in the Park" , "Foster More," and "Central California Women's Conference and "World Pride" to name a few. The Live Well Network (30.2) also aired PSAs geared towards children and their families throughout the quarter. KFSN-TV's current license expires on 12/01/22.
