Throughout 4th Quarter 2018 station KVII / KVIH sponsored public appearances by the News Anchors and Meteorologists to local schools and community events to promote the importance of education and community service. From Oct29-Nov20, the station participated with the Amarillo Area Foundation's Panhandle Day Of Giving. The initiative was supported by on-air news stories and a PSA schedule of 10x per day. This resulted in over $800k raised for local nonprofits. A Toy Drive Nov 19-Dec 7 benefitted Child Protective Services. The toys were delivered on Dec 11 and CPS was astounded by the number of toys collected. This year there were so many toys that other CPS offices in the Panhandle area were able to participate. On Nov 30 the station aired a LIVE broadcast of the Electric Light Parade from downtown Amarillo. This is a local holiday parade. The ABC float collected toys for the Toy Drive. On December 14, MMJ Darra Cunningham emceed the Northside Toy Gala. This is a fund raiser that donates toys to low income families at Christmas time. On December 25th the station hosted an on-air Panhandle Spirit This Christmas Telethon to raise money and services for families in need.
