During this quarter, WJAC aired public service announcements that addressed the topics of getting a high school diploma, resources for teens, texting while driving, and the importance of recycling and caring for the environment. WJAC-TV on-air personalities made several personal appearances this quarter at sites throughout the viewing area. On August 11th, Meteorologists Tony Martin and Casey Lehecka set up the weather-experience booth at Idlewild Park for WJAC-TV Days. Children could try weather-forecasting and green-screen technology first-hand and ask questions about the job of being a meteorologist. Promotions Director Chad Mearns and assistant Coltin Warner along with marketing consultant Cyndi Truscott were also on hand to answer questions about other careers in television. Multi-Media Journalist Sabrina Silva visited the Advanced Class at Conemaugh Valley Elementary School to explain her job as a journalist and the skills required for the position. Newscast Director Kevin Landis visited the seventh grade Guidance Class of Shanksville Elementary School District about his position as a technical director for newscasts. He explained his duties and the skills required to be successful in the job.
