THE LATTER IS USED IN THIS REPORT TO IDENTIFY THE PROGRAMS AIRING ON EACH OF ITS MAIN AND MULTICAST STREAMS. WNCF's main stream E/I line-up was pre-empted on Saturday, September 1. ABC Network scheduled coverage of Senator John McCain's Memorial Service at this time. This was breaking news coverage, but we listed it as Other on the pre-empt reports. The coverage of the program was announced in advance of the air date, and this gave us enough time to schedule make goods and to make the public aware of them. Please Note - E/I shows airing on WNCF's Main Stream ended on September 1. Programs for the new season began on September 8. WNCF airs two non-core programs each Saturday morning starting at 6 A.M. As a rule, no local commercials are placed in any E/I or non-core programming that airs on the station. At the beginning of this school year elementary school students from local schools in the River Region recited the Pledge of Allegiance during the early morning news programs on Monday - Friday. Starting this year, the teacher will introduce her students to the audience. Our youth were featured on several news stories during the quarter. Camp Smile A Mile invited one hundred Montgomery area Pediatric Cancer patients to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival for a performance of "Annie" to let them know the sun will come out tomorrow. Fifty kids took art lessons in Selma at the City's Annual Summer Arts Camp that exposes the children to several different areas of art. Nine LAMP High School students were named National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists. News also aired several stories that were of interest to parents and caregivers or our children. They included a story seeking one hundred male volunteers to greet and encourage students returning to school on the first day, bond money for Pike Road Career Tech Center, improving Montgomery schools, helping BTW Magnet School rebuild after a fire, and Your Town Friday, which features a River region Football Game of the Week. Players, cheerleaders, and students are interviewed each week. Stuff the Bus was back again this year. School supplies and monetary donations will be distributed to all fourteen schools in Autauga County's School System. The Golden Apple Teacher of the Week will start once again during the 4th Quarter. WNCF will continue to provide the best E/I programming that is available for the youth in the River Region.
