The first kid-to-kid newscast teaches students about the world by delivering news that is important to them. Teen Kids News also gives students a voice. Each week, students can log in to a designated website to vote on different topics ranging from the War in Iraq to teen drinking. All topics are educational but are presented in an age-appropriate manner so students can better understand. In addition to delivering the news, teachers are also encouraged to download scripts of the show and hold their own newscasts in the classroom to help teach public speaking, reading and writing skills. Each week, Kids News also has vocabulary quizzes. The half hour program can be seen coast to coast and has received tremendous feedback from teachers nationwide. |
