On January 17, Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles taught Preschoolers from Piedmont Elementary the weather. On February 6, Anchor Reporter Renee Passal paid a visit to Marquette Catholic School and spoke to Mr. Lemieux's 5th grade class about journalism and answered questions. She also shared some interview tips. The kids produce a monthly newsletter. On February 9, Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles paid a visit to Homecroft Elementary and taught the 5th grade class the weather. On February 22, Anchor Reporter Renee Passal was asked to come read to Mellissa Martineau's School Readiness class of 4 and 5 years old's for I Love To Read Month. She spoke about what we do at WDIO and answered their questions. On February 22, Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles for March of Dimes Kid for a Day had 16 year old Tyler Walter from Hermantown Highschool make a guest appearance to participate on air and do the weather. Every year as a silent auction item to raise money for March of dimes, WDIO donates an on air guest appearance. On February 23, Anchor Reporter Renee Passal, for Occupation Week at Coppertop School shared about the news with the class of 2-5 year old's. She had a camera and monitor there, and the kids were able to try out doing interviews. The class also made a weather wheel and learned about WDIO-TV. On February 27, Anchor Reporter Renee Passal, For I Love to Read Month, read books to several classes at Marquette Catholic School. Renee read to about 50 kids, in five different classes. On January 9, Aaron Wernimont and Jeff Laundergran gave a tour to the 6th grade Digital Journalism Class from Proctor, MN. On February 28, Aaron Wernimont, gave a tour to the 6th-8th grade classes from a Home School Group from Duluth, MN. On March 28, Aaron Wernimont, gave a tour to a group of Cub Scouts ages 11-15 years old from Maple, Grove, MN.
