WBFF continued to broadcast public service announcements addressing childrens educational, health, and safety needs including messages for Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, Baltimore Grade Level Reading, The Maryland Family Network. Boy Scouts, Health and Human Services addressing bullying prevention, USDA Discover the Forest campaign, Reading is Fundamental, CollegeBound Foundation, Partnership for a Drug Free America, Dept of Education, Foundation for a Better Life, and the Baltimore City Fire Department. The station also began broadcast of PSAs featuring news talent sharing information about summer safety including heat and storm warnings, swimming safety, nature education and preventing skin damage from summer sun. Additionally, WBFF produced PSAs promoting reading everywhere and signing up for library cards. During the 2Q 2017, WBFF produced new public service announcements for Maryland Bio Foundation promoting STEM education and careers, The Enoch Pratt Library Summer Challenge reading and learning program, the Joe Gamble Foundation promoting sports as a way for children to learn and practice healthy habits and lifestyles, V-Linc and their What I Wish for My Child campaign inviting parents of children with special needs to submit their wishes to help promote independence for their children and in which 5 wishes would be granted with volunteer engineers developing adaptive technology to promote independence, and a summer camp PSA for Baltimore City Parks and Recreation. The station airs a community calendar featuring activities and programs of interest to children and their families. WBFF continued broadcast of its weekly CollegeBound Scholar of the Week. Graduating Baltimore City high school students are honored for his or her academic achievements, community service and leadership. The station continued to offer station tours to local schools and scout troops. Staff meteorologists presented weather lessons in area schools. WBFF provided media sponsorship of the Believe in Tomorrow Childrens Foundation Port 2 Fort event, the South Baltimore Learning Center gala, and the V-linc What I Wish for My Child campaign during this quarter. Station management serves on the board of directors for Hearts Place Services which manages a Weekend Survival Kit program providing homeless children a backpack of foods to feed a family of 3 when the children do not receive their free breakfast and lunch when schools are closed. The station continues to reach out and work with non-profits and government agencies serving the needs of children by providing resources, promotion, and opportunity to share their mission and programs during news programming .
