The programs are designed to be child friendly, nonviolent, wholesome and informative. During the fourth quarter of 2016, WMBC aired such reports as the following. 437 fake IDs were confiscated and 411 people arrested during a statewide crackdown on underage drinking at summer concerts throughout NY, according to NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Throughout a day in October, members of the NY Immigration Coalition and other organizations will visit over 100 schools throughout the five boroughs with the goal of registering nearly 10K eligible students. Supporters say the Every Student Succeeds Act means equal opportunity for students and an opportunity for educators and parents to help shape education policy in their own state. The Kinnelon Colts volleyball team are showing they are a force to be reckoned with, with a victory against West Essex. nickname and logo amid controversy. The West Essex Knights volleyball team started the 2016 campaign by losing their first 8 games before winning against Montclair in dominant fashion. Law enforcement is cracking down on companies that violate the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Officials cut the ribbon and open up a new Playmobil playroom at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. Police Lt. Dennis Kohlmeier says a 3 year old child has been killed in a lawnmower accident in upstate NY. Project Self Sufficiency in Sussex County recently launched its Youth Corps program that helps young adults get back on track with education and career development. The Mount Saint Dominic Academy Lady Lions volleyball team, who were sitting at 9 and 11, lost two games in a row. Osner Charles, Dir of the East Orange Dept. of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, and the division were recognized by the US Dept. of Agriculture for their successful Summer Meals Program. Police are on the lookout for a man trying to lure students into his car near New Roberto Clemente School. Montclair Interim Superintendent Ron Bolandi issued a notice asking parents to cooperate in not allowing children to dress a clowns at school events because of safety concerns. NY Dept. of Ed and Mayor Bill deBlasio say they are hopeful a strike among school bus drivers will be averted. In their final regular season game, a matchup between the West Essex Knights and the Verona Hillbillies volleyball teams ended with Verona on top against their 27-win opponent. Teen drivers were involved in nearly 14K fatal crashes over the past five years, according to AAA. Students collected donated food on a bus at Sussex County Technical School in Sparta Township. NY Lawmakers are releasing a report that claims a third of the city's nearly 2300 day care group programs have been issued violations within the past year. Mount Saint Dominic Academy volleyball team defeated Rutgers Prep 2 games to 0 but fell the Union Catholic in the second round, ending their season. The James Caldwell volleyball team squeaked out a win against Vernon two games to one. After amassing a 23 and 5 record, the Kinnelon Colts volleyball team stormed through the first 2 rounds of the Group 1 State Tournament. Heroes walked among middle school students by sharing accounts of war and experiences from times past. The NJ Yanticaw Classroom consists of 3 tiers of seating and the outdoor classroom can accommodate 30 students. A 5 year old girl found abandoned inside Port Authority bus terminal led police to the girl's murdered mother in CT and raised questions about the girl's father. NY State education leaders said they have lifted time restrains and reduced the number of questions on controversial English and math tests. The NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Assoc has ruled to reinstate Wayne Hills High School's football team to the state playoffs following a residency controversy. Officials are recognizing that the U.S. is lagging in STEM education and are focusing on improving the situation. NJ Senators Sweeney and Lesniak are calling for expansion of the Breakfast After the Bell Program that provides meals for children from low income families. According to officials, a NJ day care center has had its permit suspended because of multiple violations including failing to conduct criminal background checks of employees. A partnership of dedicated clinicians, researchers and corporate sponsors are taking to center field to tackle cancer. The Montville Mustangs and Sparta/Jefferson Spartans hockey teams met in the first game of the year. NY lawmakers are releasing a report on some of the dirtiest cafeterias. Weequahic and Shabazz High Schools faced each other in the annual Soul Bowl in the Newark Thanksgiving Day classic game. Santa Claus came to visit aboard a special NJ Transit train called The Railmen for Children Train, which benefited 305 kids this year. A NJ toddler who gave the gift of life to others is being honored in Newark. The Morristown Beard Crimson hockey team are proving early on that they could be a force to be reckoned with this season. The annual goal of the Season of Hope Holiday Toy Drive is to collect 20K new and unwrapped toys for distribution. Project Self Sufficiency is underway on organizing its toy show in Newton, NJ. Greenwich Cambridge Police Chief says a death occurred as boys were playing in a large snow mound created when crews cleared the streets in CT. While the Montville Mustangs have yet to collect their first win, the team is playing competitive hockey and show they have the talent to turn things around. Young adults tapped into their organizational skills to get a toy shop ready, saying they enjoy giving pack to the community while enrolled in the Youth Corps Program. In this year's High Point Stuff the Bus program, teachers and staff say having students pass the food to one another helps all to focus on the meaning behind the program. The Livingston Lancers and West Morris Central Wolf Pack battle it out in ice hockey action, with the Lancers making a comeback. Arriving with help from the Newark Police Department, fire fighters and even those posing as Batman and Kris Kringle lugged bags of toys and a brand new bike to spread holiday cheer. The Newton/Lenape Valley Braves hockey team took to the ice against winless Morris Catholic/dePaul. WMBC-TV's Mountain Views program, which airs on Saturdays, provides information and discussion on Sunday school programs, ministries for children and youth, Bible studies and other activities. The station also aired numerous public service announcements that encourage the well being of children. Additionally, the station provides educational studio tours to children and young adults in the area. For example, on October 17, 2016, about 12 high school journalism students from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ, visited the station along with teacher chaperones for a tour of the station and studios, as well as a discussion with several station professionals about various fields in broadcast journalism and video production. WMBC-TV does not permit any website promotions within the airing of Children's Programming. WMBC-TV prohibits the use of "program talent or other identifiable program characteristics to deliver commercials "during or adjacent to children's programming featuring that character. WMBC-TV limits the amount of commercial matter that airs in children's programming to 10.5 minutes per hour on weekends and 12 minutes per hour on weekdays.
