The members of the family are presented with many unusual challenges that become the center of a dilemma that must be resolved within each episode. Strange visitors arrive out of nowhere and the Clangers have to figure out who and why they are on Clanger Planet. Sometimes they need to help or rescue someone who has become lost on the planet. Other times, they are trying to understand outer space; meteors and comets and eclipses of the sun or moon. Show #622 - The Community Affairs programming for NBC 5, Five Talk Street, aired on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 11:30am. In this program, we discussed with Celebrity Chef Sarah Penrod about ZestFest and charity partner, Irving Cares. ZestFest is a festival filled with 'Hot and Spicy Connoisseurs' and celebrity chefs showcasing their talents at the Irving Convention Center. For the last 14 years, ZestFest has brought together the boldest, and often, the bravest foodies. Also, we discussed Education is Freedom educational workshops about financial aid. Education is Freedom is a local, school based program designed to improve the college-going orientation and transforms lives through education. Education is Freedom has helped over 100,000 students and their families complete the college process since 2002. We discussed The Cowtown Marathon, celebrating 38 years of running with over 28,000 runners. The Cowtown is a non-profit organization that promotes the importance of health and wellness in the community. The C.A.L.F. (Children's Activities for Life & Fitness) program is a prime example of how the Cowtown promotes health and wellness, by supporting the young from area schools and community centers, by providing training, race participation grants and running shoes to children in need. We discussed Cuisine for Healing's mission, which is to provide nutritious and delicious meals to cancer patients who cannot afford to pay for the food they need, for free. Cuisine for Healing's food program has served 14,500 meals in 2015, and volunteers have driven almost 30,000 miles delivering meals to the participants. We discussed, with Susan G. Komen Greater Fort Worth's representative, their mission to provided resources that will help women when facing breast cancer. Susan G. Komen Greater Fort Worth has also discussed their plan to run the first pilot program for 2016 in collaboration with the Moncrief Cancer Institute and Texas Health Resources mobile mammography units. The foundation has invested more than $889 million in research since 1982, making Komen the largest non-profit funder of breast cancer research outside of the U.S. government. Show #623 - The Community Affairs programming for NBC 5, Five Talk Street, aired on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 11:30am. In this program, we discussed the Art Past and Present: From a Black Artist Perspective Exhibit at SMU's George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum for Black History Month. The Bush Library and Museum wanted to team up with the Multicultural Arts Alliance to highlight and honor the artist's work and contribution to the cultural life of the community, and to engage and further educate students of all ages. Multicultural Arts Alliance's mission is to provide linkage, coordination and partnership between culturally diverse arts organizations. The evening event features prominent Dallas celebrities, such as NBC 5's Kristi Nelson on stage for a night of competition and celebration. We had a discussion with film and television actor Andra Fuller, who talks about his story on becoming an actor and what it takes to become one. Andra also advises viewers who want to be in the entertainment business to get up and get outside of Texas to find resources. We discussed DART Art, which is a student art contest provided by DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit). DART created the program in 1987 and it has been recognized within the transit industry for its innovation in reaching future riders. It is a way to engage young minds and introduce them to public transportation. Discover Student Art Contest is part of student's Transit Education Program to get students from Dallas and across North Texas to enter to have a chance to win and have their art featured at the Dallas Museum of Art. Show #624 - The Community Affairs programming for NBC 5, Five Talk Street, aired on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 1130 am. In this program, we discussed Alzheimer's Association's Spring Symposium: Moving Forward in Care, Treatment and Research. The event is the largest regional education event dedicated to bringing the latest on Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. We discussed the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a non-profit organization that consists of a 289-acre nature preserve and museum. The Heard's mission is to bring nature an people together to discover, enjoy, experience, restore and preserve our priceless environment and provides educational programs for all ages; particularly children. We discussed Cancer Support Community North Texas's Thrive luncheon, an event honoring NBC 5's Deanna Dewberry, who is a three-time cancer survivor. Cancer Support Community North Texas is about providing people dealing with a cancer diagnosis, from the patient to the family members at home, with the critical emotional and psycho-social support they not only need to survive, but to thrive. We discussed the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas's new Chief Cheer Officer, Shiloh. Shiloh is a career change animal who provides emotional and social support for the 1,800 families that the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas serves each year, while their children are receiving treatment for illnesses or injuries at Dallas hospitals. The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas has served as a home away from home for more than 36,000 families of seriously ill children who have traveled to Dallas seeking medical treatment in area hospitals. We had a discussion on the Walk Like MADD event, which is happening three times in the North Texas area. Walk Like MADD is the Mothers Against Drunk Driving annual 5k walk. It is designed to raise funds to end drunk driving. The walk is an opportunity for the community to come together to commit to no more victims. Funding from the walk will allow MADD to support and serve victims and survivors of drunk driving at no charge. They will also conduct research-based prevention and education programs to stop drunk driving and prevent underage drinking. Additional runs of these episodes aired on KXAS 5.2 COZI TV. |

While the space station supports the missions of a bizarre and diverse array of aliens, the Smoothie Shack is the hub of social interaction for the galaxy.
