During the third quarter of 2019, KBTV FOX 4 continued its commitment to children in Southeast Texas as a partner in various fund-raising and community service projects. We also partnered with the United Way of Northern Jefferson County to raise money to help the children of Southeast Texas as a sponsor for the third annual Hometown Huddle One Pot Throwdown. We donated a "Reporter for a Day" Experience package to the silent auction. We included a "Color the WX" opportunity for children to show their creativity in our Hurricane Preparedness program. We involve children in hurricane awareness and safety. We participated as sponsors for fundraising events like the Nederland Educational Foundations and helped the Children's Miracle Network "Swinging for a Miracle" tournament raise funds to purchase a neo-natal intensive care unit transport and a "panda warmer" for Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. KBTV supported ASK (Adaptive Sports for Kids) at the Lamar University Football game on September 7th. The KBTV employees also hosted a food drive and donated to the Southeast Texas Food Bank to celebrate National Food Bank month. We also donated books to the Vidor library, which flooded during Tropical Storm Imelda. KBTV continue to air public service announcements alerting children to the dangers of texting and driving, Feed America, the dangers of diabetes, car seats, and financial literacy. We run public service to Stop Bullying, Spread the Love, confidence, the importance of Child Safety Seats, gun safety, and minority education. In addition, we air spots for drug free kids, suicide prevention, adopting shelter pets, and teaching kids CPR.
