Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. CORE KID PROGRAM PREEMPTS, BREAKING NEWS, LATE STARTS AND MAKE-GOODS ON KING 5.1 FOR THIRD QUARTER 2019: Saturday, July 6, 2019, NBC live coverage of the rained-out Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR race at Daytona, Florida from 4:00 - 5:39 PM preempted normal scheduling of our core kids programming at 4:00 PM (Biz Kids) and 4:30 PM (Teen Kids News). Biz Kids and Teen Kids News were made good in their secondary homes on Sunday, July 7 at 4:00 PM for Biz Kids and 4:30 PM for Teen Kids News. Saturday, August 17, 2019, NBC live coverage of the PGA BMW Championship went beyond the anticipated end time of 3:00 PM, concluding at 3:59 PM. As a result, two of our core kid shows were preempted on 8/17/19: "The Voyager with Josh Garcia" at 3:00 PM and "Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer" at 3:30 PM. Both of those preempted episodes were made good the following week on Saturday, August 24th. "The Voyager with Josh Garcia" was made good at 7:00 PM and "Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer" was made good at 7:30 PM on 8/24/19. A slight overrun of final round coverage of NBC's PGA BMW Championship on Sunday, August 18th concluded at 3:03 PM. This caused a slight delay in the start of "Consumer 101" and "Naturally, Danny Seo". "Consumer 101" began at 3:04 PM and "Naturally, Danny Seo" began at 3:33 PM on Sunday, August 18th. Neither of the two shows were joined-in-progress because master control slid the shows to air in their entirety and dropped local promos and PSA's. As a result, though both kid shows started slightly later than usual, the entire episodic content of "Consumer 101" and "Naturally, Danny Seo" on Sunday, 8/18/19 aired without loss. Third round NBC PGA coverage of the Tour Championship on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 aired from 11:30A - 4:00P, preempting our regularly scheduled children's programming at 3:00P (The Voyager with Josh Garcia) and 3:30P (Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer). Both of these children shows were made good a week later in their second home time periods on Saturday, August 31st. The preempted 8/24 episode of "Voyager with Josh Garcia" aired on Saturday, August 31st at 7:00P and the preempted 8/24 episode of "Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer" aired on Saturday, August 31st at 7:30P. A slight overrun of final round coverage of NBC's PGA Tour Championship on Sunday, August 25th concluded at 3:03 PM. This caused a delay in the start of "Consumer 101" and "Naturally, Danny Seo". "Consumer 101" began at 3:04 PM and "Naturally, Danny Seo" began at 3:33 PM. Neither of the two shows were joined-in-progress because master control slid the shows to air in their entirety and dropped local promos and PSA's. As a result, though both kid shows started slightly later than usual, the entire episodic content of "Consumer 101" and "Naturally, Danny Seo" on Sunday, 8/25/19 aired without loss. Saturday, August 31st, an NBC Special Report from 4:30 - 4:34P preempted the first four minutes of "Teen Kids News". The NBC breaking news on 8/31/2019 summarized the events of a one person random shooting rampage in West Texas with initial reports of 5 people killed and several people injured. "Teen Kids News" was joined-in-progress following the four-minute NBC Special Report and this partially preempted episode of "Teen Kids News" was not made good at a later date. Saturday, September 14, 2019, NBC coverage of Notre Dame football (New Mexico at Notre Dame) ran longer than anticipated, ending at 3:07P. FIRST ALERT SCHOOL NET: More than 100 Washington schools (elementary, junior high and high school) are an important part of KING 5's weather reporting. The weather network consists of computerized weather stations located at schools that calculate wind speed, precipitation, temperature, and other basic weather information. These weather stations are on-line with KING 5's weather system and the National Weather Service, and provide the most accurate and current weather information available in Washington State. First Alert School Net reports are included in each KING 5 newscast. The School Net is of great educational benefit as a hands-on learning opportunity. In the classroom, students use the weathernet stations to learn about weather metrics and incorporate meteorology into their science curriculum. They can bring weather forecasting to their own neighborhoods.
