Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | WBFF continued to serve the educational and informational needs of children through broadcast and outreach efforts during the 2Q 2019.The station continues to reach out and work with non-profits and governmental agencies serving the needs of children by providing resources, promotion, and opportunity to share their mission and programs during news and community affairs programming . WBFF began its 14th year saluting Baltimore City neighborhood high school graduates for their academic achievements, leadership and community service. In partnership with the CollegeBound Foundation, weekly salutes were broadcast for a 16 week period airing in morning and afternoon news programming and Saturday and Sunday programs designed for youth 16 and under. During the 2nd quarter, the station partnered with the Baltimore Chick-fil-A restaurants, to present the CFA Kids Correspondents . 12 children and teens experienced behind-the-scenes tour of the station, learned about careers in broadcast TV, and how reports and spots are produced for broadcast. The children presented reports about Maryland attractions, history and traditions with the viewing audience throughout 2019. The FOX45 Morning News provided on-the-set learning opportunities for youth ages 8 - 15 to be a Weather Kid. Teachers nominated students and selected students received a weather lesson from the morning meteorologist and then helped present the forecast live during the morning news. The feature airs every Wednesday during the school year. WBFF served as media sponsor for the Baltimore City Department of Transportation Safety City Day promoting pedestrian and traffic safety and My Neighbors Foundation Golf Tournament to support youth in the Hereford School Zone. Station talent emceed events for the Baltimore Child Abuse Center Evening with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, the Child First Authority Show What You Know youth talent showcase and Port Discovery Childrens Museum Play It Forward gala. Station management served on event and marketing committees for the Baltimore Area Boy Scouts and Muscular Dystrophy Association The station hosted tours for local schools and Scout troops, participated in career days, presented weather lessons in local elementary schools, and served on boards of local non-profits serving the needs of children. The station continues to air public service announcements designed for childrens educational and information needs and broadcast of a community calendar designed for children and their families. During the 2Q 2019, the station produced PSAs for the Pratt Library Summer Reading Challenge and Lyme Disease Prevention. |
