During this quarter KATU supported the educational and informational needs of children through the launch of a multi-platform campaign, on-air news stories, local programming, station tours and digital information. In April, the station participated in Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The station also conducted 5 station tours for kids from various groups and schools with ages ranging from 4-17. The students were also told how they can prepare for jobs in broadcasting. As part of the Family Matters campaign, KATU produced and ran a PSA about Healthy kids, Healthy summer fun and encouraging kids to eat 5 fruits and vegetables every day and to limit recreational screen time to 2 hours. In May KATU produced a Town Hall covering the topic of youth mental illness as part of the Kind is Better movement. The station also aired program segments during the quarter on kids re-connecting with one-another and about anti-bullying. Other segments aired include getting kids off the couch and exercising and how to see the signs of eating disorders and managing stress in school.
