Animal trainer, Brandon McMillan operates a training facility known as the Lucky Dog Ranch where his mission is to rescue hard to love and untrained dogs and find them homes. The show focuses on exercising responsibility and developing a sense of appreciation for life and animals. Life lessons are an integral part of the theme of rescuing these animals from death and providing a second chance of life. In order to accomplish this goal, McMillan must investigate what each animal needs to find the appropriate method to retain them, so that the animals will make welcome family members. Through watching his interactions with these animals, the viewer is encouraged to be sensitive to our own and other's behavior, and shown how we as individuals can make a difference.
