In January two elementary school classrooms toured the facility where the students were shown and told about the broadcast industry from the promotions director and morning meteorologist. In February and March two Girl Scout Troops toured the station learning about how news is gathered and reported as well as how a newscast is produced. Also this quarter, the morning meteorologist spoke with 3rd grade students at the Highland Elementary School about the science of weather and shared background and experiences covering weather for the station as an adventurous job. The students were also shown the equipment in the KBOI Weather Truck. This quarter KBOI aired various PSAs for children including topics of the following; autism, bullying, buzzed driving, drug free kids, explore nature, infant safety, under age drinking and don't text and drive. |
