Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | During this quarter, WJAC aired public service announcements that addressed the topics of getting a high school diploma, resources for teens, texting while driving, and the importance of recycling and caring for the environment. WJAC-TV on-air personalities made several personal appearances this quarter at sites throughout the viewing area. On November 14th, Meteorologists Mary Ours visited the Valley School of Ligonier to share with students about the job of a TV meteorologist and the requirements education-wise for a TV weather forecaster. On November 20th, reporter Sabrina Silva spoke to eighth-grade and eleventh-grade students at Greater Johnstown High School about careers in Broadcast News as well as the variety of jobs at a television station. On October 8th, the Rockwood Girl Scouts visited the studio to learn about TV meteorology and try-out the green-screen technology used to present weather forecasts. On October 11th, students from the Conemaugh Valley Elementary School Enrichment Program visited the station to learn about jobs in television. They toured the Control Room and watched a live broadcast of the noon news. On November 1st, the News Department hosted students from the Forest Hills High School Journalism Class who observed the morning News Department Editorial Meeting, video editing, and script-writing in order to learn how a news program is produced. And on December 12th, in preparation for a state-wide competition for the Future Business Leaders of America chapter at Claysburg-Kimmel High School who will be creating their own newscast, students visited the News Department to learn how local news broadcasts are produced and the role of each staff member in that process. Finally, on December 12th, ten WJAC staff members manned the Salvation Army Red Kettle to raise money to aid local families who are financially challenged. Those staff members included Meteorologists Tony Martin and Joshua Fosbrink, News Anchors Jen Johnson, Tim Rigby, and Sean Eiler, Reporter Crispin Havener, Sales Executive Eric Allen and Sales Manager Bill Stanton, Production Manager Victor Kovalchik, and H.R.
