See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | During the 3rd Quarter 2018, WBFF continued to serve the educational and informational needs of children through broadcast and outreach efforts. To help students retain their reading skills over the summer vacation, WBFF produced a PSA for the Enoch Pratt Library Summer Challenge promoting reading for fun and prizes and learning adventures at local libraries during the school break. PSAs were also produced with station talent promoting swimming safety, learning to swim, nature play at the Carrie Murray Nature Center and weather and sun safety messages for hot weather and sudden storms. WBFF continues to produce a children and family event calendar and broadcast public service announcements addressing childrens educational, health, and safety needs including messages for Baltimore Grade Level Reading, Health and Human Services addressing bullying prevention, USDA Discover the Forest campaign, American Academy of Pediatrics, Reading is Fundamental, Dept of Education, The Maryland Bio Foundation, Joel Gamble Foundation, Baltimore City Dept of Transportation, and Foundation for a Better Life. The focus was on promoting healthy choices, fitness, and STEM education as well as mentoring experiences. WBFF hosted station tours for various summer camps and Scout troops. During the 3rd Quarter 2018, the station sponsored FamFest to benefit the Family Tree of Maryland and its efforts to encourage families to play, eat and read together as well as positive parenting programs. The station also sponsored Run Wild for Autism to benefit Pathfinders for Autism and its programs and services to families with members who have autism. WBFF also partnered with the CollegeBound Scholars Luncheon with emcee FOX45 Morning News anchor Patrice Sanders and station and corporate sponsorships. During September Hunger Action Month, the station developed a campaign to fight childhood hunger and increase awareness of the impact of hunger on children by partnering with a local grocery chain to raise foods for the Maryland Food Bank to provide meals to food insecure children and their families. And to support the environmental education programs offered to area schools, WBFF sponsored the Annapolis Maritime Museums Boatyard Beach Bash and Living Classrooms Maritime Magic. The station continues to reach out and work with non-profits and governmental agencies serving the needs of children by providing resources, promotion, and opportunity to share their mission and programs during news and community affairs programming . |
