During this quarter, WJAC aired public service announcements that addressed the topics of nutrition, car seat safety, resources for teens, drug abuse, and the importance of caring for the environment. WJAC-TV on-air personalities made many personal appearances this quarter at sites throughout the viewing area. On January 9th, Meteorologist Casey Lehecka visited North Allegheny Senior High School to make a presentation on weather phenomena and the skills needed for weather forecasting. On February 1st, Casey went to Northern Cambria Catholic School for Career Day, speaking to students in grades 5 to 8 about careers in broadcasting and meteorology. On February 23rd, a senior from Armstrong High School job-shadowed a news producer to learn about the production of a newscast. On February 22nd, News Anchor Tim Rigby served as emcee for the annual Harry Mangle Boy Scout Dinner. On March 3rd, Chief Meteorologist Tony Martin emceed the Somerset Softball Fundraising event to benefit the youth leagues of Somerset County. On March 11th, both Meteorologists Tony Martin and Joshua Fosbrink participated in a fund-raising hockey game for the Johnstown Sitting Bulls, a sled hockey team that supports and serves various disability groups across the region. On March 16th, the New Director James Platzer and Human Resources Coordinator Nancy Shull visited the Penn State Job and Internship Expo to counsel students on internships available at the station as well as applying for open jobs and the job skills required. On January 26th and 27th, WJAC hosted Snow Daze at Seven Springs Resort and Laurel Mountain Ski Resort with opportunities for families to participate in winter activities (skiing, snow-boarding, and snow tubing) with on-air personalities Meteorologists Tony Martin, Mary Ours, and Casey Lehecka, News Reporters Dillon Richards, Bridget McClure, and Aimee Lewis, and News and Sports Anchors Jen Johnson and Jordan Conigliaro. Twelve other WJAC staff members helps with station giveaways and the weather experience booth. On February 14th, students from Somerset Christian School visited the studio to learn about jobs in television and observe a live broadcast of the Noon News.
