WNYT/WNYA Special outreach segments relating to children during 4th quarter 2017: The Top Teacher program, which highlights the teachers that have a great impact on our children's lives, began in September. The call for nominations was put out on line and on air. The deadline was in November. Many entries came in from students. The segments highlighting the teachers will air in the first quarter of 2018. WNYT and WNYA air a series of spots under the title Commit to Kids. They all have a message discussing various topics from drugs and alcohol to education. The Sports Department generates segments that highlight our student athletes along with a program that profiles scholar athletes. These two programs are seeking out student athletes now that the schools are back in session. Our meteorologists have spent some time with the students in our community explaining how they forecast the weather reports and how the television station operates.
