WBFF broadcast public service announcements addressing childrens educational, health, and safety needs including messages for Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, Baltimore Grade Level Reading, The Maryland Family Network, Boy Scouts, Health and Human Services addressing bullying prevention, USDA Discover the Forest campaign, Reading is Fundamental, Partnership for a Drug Free America, Dept of Education, The Maryland Bio Foundation, Joel Gamble Foundation, Living Classrooms Foundation, Carson Scholars, Young Life and Foundation for a Better Life. The focus was on promoting healthy choices, fitness, and STEM education as well as mentoring experiences. A unique opportunity is presented to area school children with the Morning New Wednesday Weather Kid in which teachers nominate students to participate in presenting the weather forecast. Students receive a weather lesson with morning meteorologist and then assist in the daily forecast. During the 4th Quarter, WBFF sponsored The Marines Reserves Toys for Tots campaign promoting donations, a benefit jazz concert, and hosting a Morning News Toys for Tots Roll Call showcasing various benefit events as well as community efforts to provide toys for children this holiday season. In addition, the station sponsored the Family Tree of Maryland Fam Fest promoting reading, playing and eating together as a family, Maritime Magic to benefit the Living Classroom Foundation, the CollegeBound Foundation dream of college arts programs for elementary school age children. Station management serves on the board of directors for Hearts Place Services which manages a Weekend Survival Kit program providing homeless children a backpack of foods to feed a family of 3 when the children do not receive their free breakfast and lunch when schools are closed. WBFF hosted station tours for various schools and participated in Career Day activities at local schools as well as supported local school fundraisers with donations of tours and Weather Kids Experiences.The station continues to reach out and work with non-profits and governmental agencies serving the needs of children by providing resources, promotion, and opportunity to share their mission and programs during news programming . |
