Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | Details regarding preemptions: On January 7, as reflected in this report, the following core children's programs on WRAL Channel 5.1 were preempted and not rescheduled due to breaking news (winter weather coverage): Brain Game, Smart Start Kids, The Voyager with Josh Garcia and Wilderness Vet. As also reflected in this report, the following two core children's programs on WRAL Channel 5.2 were preempted on January 8th and rescheduled due to programming scheduling changes: Smart Start Kids and Animal Rescue. WRAL provided advance notification to the public. WRAL seeks to positively influence the lives of our younger audience through station tours, routine school visits, station talent involvement at family-friendly events, and donated PSA production and/or airtime. Below is a detailed accounting of the station's efforts this quarter: Station tours were conducted for 70 school-age children and WRAL News talent participated in 64 events benefiting children. On Monday, January 16th, in honor of the annual Martin Luther King National Day of Observance, WRAL-TV in partnership with the Triangle Martin Luther King Committee sponsored the annual Triangle MLK Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. The event was broadcast on WRAL-TV and featured a dynamic and inspiring keynote speaker, a youth presenter, live musical entertainment and prayers led by diverse faith leaders. Nearly 2,000 were in attendance to include businesses, individuals, families, clergy, politicians and other community leaders. WRAL-TV also aired public service announcements in the interest of children during our core children's programming block on WRAL Channel 5.1 and 5.2. The estimated value of these announcements was $51,130. |
