CBS Austin airs a variety of Public Service Announcements (PSA's) in support of important children's issues such as fighting obesity, the importance of staying in school and the importance of exercise. CBS Austin also provides information to educate children on the many careers in the broadcast field and donates to community events benefiting children in our area. Additionally, Chief Meteorologist Chikage Windler conducted a CBS Austin "Weather Talk" at six area schools; including Patsy Sommer ES (Round Rock ISD) on January 23rd, Ray ES (Hutto ISD) on February 6th, Anderson Mill ES (Round Rock ISD) on February 21st, Primrose Chrystal Falls ES (Leander) on February 21st, Westside ES (Cedar Park ISD) on March 8th, and Mendez Middle School (Austin ISD) on March 23rd. Meteorologist Windler also participated in Weatherfest (all ages) at Bullock Museum on February 5th; she was a presenter at the San Marcos STEM Fest (all ages) on February 11th; was a participant at "Read Across America" at Reilly ES (Austin ISD) on March 2nd; and was also a participant in "Reverse Shadow Day" at McNeil HS (Round Rock ISD) on February 23rd. Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming. This program is inspired by real-life cases handled by the United States Postal Inspection Service. In the program, a teenage boy who is paralyzed due to a car accident, works as an intern at the U.S. Postal Inspector's lab assisting his U.S. Postal Inspector mom in solving crimes which include internet scams, identity and mail theft, and consumer fraud. The program educates young people about making the right choices in their daily lives, encourages open communication between teens and parents and includes positive messaging regarding living with disabilities, overcoming challenges, beating the odds and the power of perseverance. This program airs on the station's main digital stream.
