See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. The license renewal application for WNYA was timely submitted on 12/1/14. WNYT/WNYA -TV 4th quarter 2016 WNYT/WNYA hosts a program in which high school students are nominated for the NewsChannel 13 Scholar Athlete of the Week. Each week the NewsChannel 13 Sports Team highlights a scholar student who also excels in a school athletic program. A segment is produced that airs within our 6pm news and 10pm news on WNYA. The program runs from October through early June. WNYT/WNYA airs a children s programming Public Service Announcement that explains the programming educational information symbol; what it means and how parents can use it. Other child specific Public Service Announcements such as assistance in college application and anti-bullying messages were aired. A two month long campaign was sponsored for the Regional Food Bank in the food collection for families in need. The public service announcements aired during the months of November and December. WNYT/WNYA sponsors The US Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection. WNYT/WNYA worked in cooperation with a number of sponsors to have collection boxes delivered to over 150 locations this season. 15 thousand more toys were collected this season. WNYT/WNYA sought out STEM stories this quarter. Science/Technology/Engineering and Math. We featured stories on Space Camps, the creativity of STEM in the technical theater during a musical production, archeology at NYS Museum, new gymnastic equipment, the local STEM company which has been going to elementary schools to teach children science through experiments. Their goal is to increase their knowledge and interest them to continue their study of science as they move through their education. The goal of these news stories is to educate our viewers of how STEM is intertwined in our daily lives and that these businesses are in our community. We bring stories forth that portray the education side and community based side of STEM.
