During the fourth quarter, WWHO addressed the educational and informational needs of children through a variety of programming, outreach activities and sponsorship of local children's events and fundraisers. WWHO continued its fifth year of Thursday Night Lights, the broadcast of local high school football games on its air. This promotes children's involvement not only in athletics but also in academics. It also gives the highlighted schools and their respective students a sense of community. In addition, WWHO airs a series of PSA announcements designed to teach children about the world around them, including respecting the environment, the dangers of drugs and alcohol and the importance of family values. Many of these PSA's are run during the Saturday morning educational programming when children are most likely to be watching the station.
