Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. At KBTV, we air public service announcements, directed specifically at children, with the objective of helping our community. These spots are normally provided to us through National organizations, but we also sponsor, support local events. This year was the 22nd year sister station KFDM and FOX presented the TOYFEAST, a toy and food drive benefiting the SALVATION ARMY of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange. KFDM and KBTV collected non perishable food items, toys and cash to be distributed to less fortunate families in our viewing area. We also run Coats and Kettles, collecting blankets, coats and sweaters for the Salvation Army in our viewing area to distribute to Southeast Texans as needed during the winter months. We support education with the KFDM Challenge, an academic game show that pits high schools against each other answering questions in a Jeopardy style format. We have changed the name of our Golden Apple Educator Awards, to the Outstanding Educator Award honoring local teachers our morning show. As sponsors of Lamar University, we appeal to children with Tailgate parties at the Conference at home games, with giveaways promoting FOX primetime programs. Our Pay It Forward news segment honors local volunteers, including young people, who reach out to help our community. This year, we produced Sounds of the Season II, featuring local elementary, middle school and high school choirs singing Christmas carols on Christmas Day. We were strong supporters of the Port Arthur Lighted Christmas Parade. We also participate in the NAB Don't Drink and Drive roadblock, and run these PSAs throughout the holiday, and throughout the year. We were primary sponsors of the American Cancer Society Cattle Barons Ball and encouraged children and families to participate in the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk and the Gift of Life Color Run. National PSAs aimed at children include bicycle safety, student aid, leukemia treatments, cell phone safety, anti drunk driving campaign, children advocacy spots like Autism Awareness and the National Children Alliance, as well as the Gary Sinise Foundation, A Wonderful World Value, Shelter Adopt a Pet, Special Athlete Values, Texas 811, Its the Law, Loyalty, Pass It On, Forgiveness Values, United Way NFL Play, Just Say Hi Values, Stop Texts Wrecks Afterlife, Keep America Beautiful, Stop Texts Stop Wrecks Unlucky, and Discover the Forest.
