Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. 4/2/16: Health & Wellness Expo - This annual free event to the public gives opportunities to the public on taking action and making better choices to be more healthy. We provided health screenings, wellness information, resources to contact, all in one place. Station representatives/anchors were present to visit with the public. 4/6/16: OKC Special Olympics Track Meet - Jeff George, chief meteorologist, was the emcee of this event, handing out annual awards, introduced winners and handed out ribbons. 4/12/16: Knock-Out Bullying - Jeff George gave a thirty minute presentation for kids and parents in Yukon. He taught kids how to stand up for themselves and others as well as encouraging to report school violence and bullying. He distributed his "parents handbook", so they know the best way to handle any bullying situation. 4/13/16: Weather Presentation at Andrew Johnson Elementary School - Marcy Novak, meteorologist, gave a presentation about the seasons, clouds, radars, and severe weather. She also taught tornado safety and showed pictures of storms taken by storm chasers. 4/14/16: Weather Presentation at Horace Mann Specialty Elementary - Marcy Novak. 4/21/16: Harley World Fashion Show - Jeff George emceed this event that raised money for local charities. Adults and children modeled the latest Harley fashion wear. 4/26/16: IMCI Meeting - Jeff George is an executive member of It's My Community Initiative, a non-profit organization whose mission is developing and expanding efforts to strengthen communities by building strong, healthy families. They are focused on holding a high standard for services provided to low-income families. IMCI spearheads community projects, tackling issues of health, education and employment. 4/30 /16: Awards Ceremony for Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma - Marcy Novak served as Mistress of Ceremonies, honoring girl scouts who have received their bronze and silver awards; the highest recognition. 5/2/16: Children's Center & Rehabilitation Hospital Superhero Day - Jeff George was nominated Local Superhero. He spoke to the staff and patients about how to prepare for extreme weather and stay safe. 5/7/16: 19th Annual Hope Gala/Kentucky Derby - Jeff George and Malcom Tubbs, reporter, were special guests at this event, which raised money for type 1 diabetes. 5/26/16: Children's Center Rehab Hospital - Mitch English, anchor, emceed an event for the patients who were unable to attend their prom because of illness. 6/2/16: St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Kick-off - CW34 launched this campaign with an all day telethon; selling tickets to win the Dream Home. As of July 8th, $32,000.00 worth of tickets were sold; all proceeds benefit the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The live event is held in October. 6/6/16: Station Tour - John Wilhelm gave a tour to a group of thirteen Girl Scouts and adults from Brownie Troop 394 in Del City. 6/10/16: Shelby Cashman, anchor, served as emcee for The Maine Event, a fundraiser that benefits Wilson Arts Integration Elementary School. The school's mission is to further students' learning through the arts while promoting creative thinking, problem solving and responsible citizenship.
