KVCW is actively involved with local area schools and students. Activities this quarter included: Meteorologist Kevin Janison read to students at several schools including: Red Rock, Solomon Schecter, Martinez, C.P. Squires and Tanaka Elementary Schools. He also was Master of Ceremonies at KidsVention for Clark County Schools on April 19th, did weather presentations at Goolsby Elementary, Ober Elementary and Discovery Charter Schools and conducted a Station Tour for Discovery Charter School on April 20th. On-air personality Dana Wagner participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Fund Raiser on April 1st, interviewed a Make-A-Wish child as part of her wish on April 9th and was chaperone for Givens Elementary's field trip to the Regional Justice Center on May 10th. Two Station Tours were conducted on April 8th for Northwest Academy Media Production students by Creative Services Director David Clevidence. Several Employees spoke to students at Sheila Tarr Elementary's Career Day on May 29th. KVCW also aired the City Beat program at various times throughout the quarter. City Beat is a local city-produced program featuring governmental and community related events such as city council meetings, recreational activities, parades and multicultural events.
