He is on the committee that selects State and National Schools of Character. They selected 4 schools in Oklahoma to receive the honor and these will be presented to them at the State Capitol in April. 2/6/16-Operation Relief: Jeff George emceed and hosted The 2016 Operation Relief: All Bets on Red event which featured a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme. The event raised money for the Red Cross to help support disaster relief services, support of the military and veterans and preparedness education in the community like The Pillowcase Project. 2/11/16: John Wilhelm, Sales Promotions Coordinator, conducted a station tour for 27 high school students from Latta Public Schools to learn about the business of television. 2/12/16: Jeff George provided a weather presentation that helped over a dozen Boy Scouts receive their Weather Bade by giving detailed information on a variety of meteorology topics. He also answered questions and did several demonstrations. 2/18/16: John Wilhelm, Sales Promotions Coordinator, conducted a station tour for 14 high school students from Yukon Public Schools. 2/18/16-Sheraton Hotel: Keaton Fox, reporter, gave a speech to the 65th annual convention of Oklahoma YMCA Youth in Government delegation, which included several hundred high school students from around the state. 2/20/16-Oak Tree Country Club Fundraiser: Mike Brooks and Wendy Suares, anchors, were the emcees at the St. Mary's Episcopal School/Edmond fundraiser. 2/29/16- OSU Career Fair: Vicki Khalili, HR Coordinator, met with students at the Oklahoma State University of Media & Strategic Communications Career and Internship Fair to discuss their career interests and provide information about opportunities at the station that pertain to their particular interests. She also spoke about internship possibilities. 3/2/16: Jeff George read Dr. Seuss books to sick children at the Children's Center Rehab Hospital in celebration of Read Across America Day. 3/5/16-Severe Weather Expo: The weather team attended and presented at the expo in Penn Square Mall. They performed weather experiments and set up a green screen for children to record their own weathercasts. Free safety DVD's were distributed and safety tips were presented. 3/15/16-NPPA Workshop: Adam Pursch, News Director, spoke to a group of students attending the NPPA workshop at the University of Oklahoma. Jeff George, meteorologist, emceed the event at Leadership Square. This event challenges participants to climb 35 floors up and 35 down; raising money for the Oklahoma Chapter to fund vital research, advocacy efforts and local programs and education. KOKH aired public service announcements encouraging people to participate and/or give to this cause.
