WLKY Celebrates 35 Years of Wednesday's Child was a retrospective look at 35 years of featuring children/youth awaiting permanent adoption and how the weekly feature has helped placed 4,000 kids with forever families. The special took at look at one of the first Wednesday's Kid 35 years ago and his successful life today, due in large part to the unconditional love provided by his adoptive parents. Other adoption success stories were featured with a focus on continuing the program's mission to unite foster youth with permanent families.

See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. WLKY sponsors a weekly segment of "Wednesday's Child," which highlights special needs children awaiting adoption in Kentucky. To date, more than 4,000 children have been placed in permanent adoptive homes through the Wednesday's Child Program. WLKY routinely provides tours for local students and student shadow sessions to point out broadcast opportunities. For the fourth year, WLKY participated with Breckinridge-Franklin Elementary School's "Power Hour" sessions by sending staff to talk about various station job duties, such as photographers, production, reporters and sales and marketing directors. Children Liaison Director, Debbie Roberson, is a member of the Jefferson County Public School Advisory Board and served on the committee that redesigned the Communication, Arts and Media magnet school curriculum for three area high schools. Through this partnership, station staff has visited Ballard High School's communication class, assisting with their media school projects and speaking about the various career opportunities in broadcasting. This is one of the high schools participating in this magnet program.
