Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming. | Pearlie recounts the weekly escapades of an optimistic, amiable fairy who has been appointed by Fairy HQ to maintain order in Jubilee Park. She lives among a dozen assorted characters, including her fairy best friends Opal, and Jasper, a garden elf, a wood nymph, possum, bats, other fairies, rats, a small colony of fleas, a lizard and her arch rival, Saphira who is also her fairy cousin. While Pearlie is very likable, she is a bit of a busy-body who likes to arrange things according to over-ambitious plans that ultimately get her in trouble. She gets along with everyone so ultimately every problem is solved and Pearlie learns a lesson. However, her greatest challenges are usually presented by her one enemy, the bully and diva Saphira. Fortunately, Pearlie rises to Saphira's challenges, not with meaness, but by outwitting her. Overall, learning is a constant process for Pearlie because she has big responsibilities. Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. | The E/I bug has been airing throughout the NBC's QUBO Children's Programming block since February 5, 2005 and will remain, per FCC regulations. The E/I bug also airs throughout Ask Gilby. Pre-emptions (Digital): 4/16/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of the National Hockey League Conference Quarter Finals. 5/7/11: NBC's broadcast of the National Hockey League Conference Semi-Finals was scheduled to air from 11:30am-2:30pm. Because of this, Barbar, Willa's Wild Life, and Pearlie were scheduled to air on 6/12/11 from 11am-12:30pm. As it turned out, the game on 5/7/11 was an "if necessary" game. This particlular NHL series did not go the complete distance so no game was needed on 5/7/11. The determination that no game was needed was made just days before so this did not allow enough time to re-schedule the children's programming in their "home" time periods and provide notice to the TV listing companies. Consequently, KJRH kept the children's programming on 6/12/11, as originally scheduled. 5/14/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of Global Golf Advernture - Atlantis, Bahamas. 5/21/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of the National Hockey League Conference Finals. 5/28/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of French Open Tennis. 6/4/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of French Open Tennis. 6/25/11: Due to NBC's broadcast of Wimbledon Tennis. Pre-emptions (Digital Multicast): 6/11/11: Technical difficulty in Master Control - Malfuction prevented the playlist from advancing and did not roll Ask Gilby epsiodes #19 and #29. KJRH provides studio tours for groups such as scouts, elementary, middle and high school students. The tour includes extensive Weathercenter and Stormchaser 2 tours, tornado safety information, winter weather and summer heat safety information. **Station Tour, 4/22/11, 2:30pm, Photojournalist TJ Clark gave six students from Oktaha, OK, a station tour. **Newscast Watch, 4/26/11, Production Manager Ross Greenawalt hosted a group of 7 students from Tulsa Technology Center as they watched KJRH's 5pm Newscast live from the studio, master control, and the control room. KJRH's management, anchors, reporters, and meteorologists donated their time to various children's causes during Q2 2011: **6/11/11 Saint Francis Tulsa Tough 100k Event & Activities, 13th & Riverside, Tulsa, attracts approximately 1,500 bicycle riders of all ages and promotes the adoption of more active and healthier lifestyles. KJRH Meteorologist George Flickinger rode in the 100k event. His ride was streamed live on kjrh.com. Additionally, George wore a bluetooth so he was able to talk live to anchor Deana Silk during the 8-10am local newscast that day. **KJRH aired a "Making a Difference" segment during the 6pm News on 6/30/11 about Project Summer Spirit. This project, undertaken by Sand Springs students, benefitted Sand Springs Community Services and was a four week canned food drive. The children that participated in the event formed a human assembly line to deliver the goods. The assembly line was coordinated by Sand Springs Teacher, Michelle Boniceli, 2:45pm, 15 E. 2nd Street, Sand Springs, Ok. **St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, 6/26/11, KJRH Studios, Live Broadcast, 10am-12pm was the culmination of KJRH's 2011 involvment with St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Many KJRH staffers helped to raise $902,235 for St. Jude during the 6 month effort that included groundbreaking ceremonies, open houses, phone banks at KJRH studios, KJRH on-air promotion, KJRH anchor mentions, kjrh.com on-line exposure, in additional to the live giveaway broadcast.
