The half-hour weekly series, Sea Rescue, features the rescue, rehabilitation and - in many instances - release back into the wild of ocean wildlife. Produced for ages 13-16, Sea Rescue offers educational and entertaining television by demonstrating the welfare and medical benefits that rescue and rehabilitation programs provide animals. This year we had over 2,500 plungers and raised over $500,000 for Special Olympics! WKOW sponsored the Heart Ball on February 8th to benefit adults and children with heart disease. The Zor Shrine Circus was in town February 14-16. Viewers enjoyed circus acts from pet tricks to the human cannonball....all sponsored by WKOW. The United Way Cerebral Palsy Celebrity Banquet was held on February 15. WKOW anchors and reporters served as celebrity servers at this banquet that benefits children with Cerebral Palsy. WKOW sponsored Duck Soup Cinema on March 1. Old Style theatre like it used to be. Viewers enjoyed Charlie Chaplin plus a live comedy show emceed by WKOW celebrities. Fun for the whole family! On March 8, WKOW broadcasted and produced both the Boys and Girls WIAA State High School Hockey Championships. On March, 13, 14 and 15, WKOW broadcasted and produced the WIAA Boys State High School basketball tournament. On March 20, 21, and 22, WKOW broadcasted and produced the WIAA Girls State High School Basketball tournament. The Art of Note Gala is Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra's (WYSO) signature gala fundraising event. This year's Art of Note Gala was held on March 29. Music in Bloom features performances by the Percussion Ensemble, WYSO Brass Choirs and WYSO's string orchestra, Sinfonietta! Proceeds benefit orchestral training and performance opportunities and scholarships. The Aldo Leopold Nature Center-Maple Syrup Fest was sponsored by WKOW on March 30. WKOW and The Aldo Leopold Nature Center celebrated spring at MAPLE SYRUP FEST -- a family-style festival at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center. This year's Maple Syrup Fest featured ten stations set throughout the Nature Center grounds that led visitors, at their own pace, through the history of maple syruping and related craft and activities. Fun for all ages.
